The Long Stroke (Langer Gang, German: Langer Gang) is another iconic landmark in Dresden, which, together with the stable yard (Stallhof, German Stallhof), belongs to the Dresden Residenzschloss palace complex.

Previously, the stable yard was used as an area for festivities and knightly tournaments. This is evidenced by two bronze columns that the knights used for exercise. This is one of the oldest squares in Europe.

On February 13, 1945, British military aircraft dropped bombs on a sleeping city. As a result, most cathedrals, temples, museums, and architectural monuments were destroyed. Later, many of them were restored, including the Long Stroke.
