Cinecittà World - Italy's first cinema amusement park

Outdoor film sets, theaters, laboratories: the new amusement park in Castel Romano, dedicated to the best films shot in the Cinechitt film studio, will open its doors to the public on July 24, 2014. According to preliminary estimates, already in 2015 it will be visited by one and a half million people and bring in revenue of 55 million euros

In Italy, opens the first theme park dedicated to the world of cinema - Cinecittà World (doc. World of Cinechitt). A large park designed by Dante Ferretti, a Marco artist and decorator of three Oscars, will open its doors to the public on July 24, 2014. And on July 10, in Castel Romano, not far from the famous outlet, a preliminary presentation of the park was held, which attracted more than a thousand guests. On its territory there are 20 attractions, eight film sets, four theaters, four thematic restaurants. The investments made by IEG (Italian Entertainment Groupon) currently amount to 250 million euros.

Starting July 24th, Cinecittà Word will work without days off from 10.00 to 23.00. The park’s administration says that, taking into account the stipulated 260 working days per year, “the park’s working season will be one of the longest in Europe.” An entrance ticket will give access to all attractions and park performances for the whole day and will cost 29 euros (or 23 euros for children under 10 years of age and older people over 65). There is also a family package for two adults and two children worth 95 euros.

The period of construction of the park and the installation of attractions lasted about three years. If we evaluate all the investments, then 30% of the money spent on the purchase of land, another 30% on the construction and the remaining 40% on the rides and the installation of movie sets developed by Ferretti. In 2015, Cinecittà Word expects 1,500,000 visitors, generating revenue of around 55 million euros. The park management emphasizes: "Particular attention was paid to the interaction with the environment, preservation of existing vegetation. More than 2 million euros were spent on the purchase of new plants. Cinecittà World is part of a large project that covers a total of 150 hectares of land and is divided into many stages." .

But let's take a look at what movie sets, theaters and laboratories will appear before visitors to the new park.

Cabiria: a giant giant. The impressive entrance gate at Cinecittà World was designed by Dante Ferretti in honor of the first, still silent, Italian large blockbuster "Cabiria", filmed in 1914 by Giovanni Pastrone and Gabriele D'Annunzio (Giovanni Pastrone, Gabriele D'Annunzio). The sculptural group returns the audience during the time of the god Moloch, from whom little Cabiria was saved thanks to the intervention of the strongman Maciste.

"Prospect Chinechitta": swing and bullets. Having overcome the entrance group, visitors find themselves in a completely different world: the main street of the park carries the spirit of New York of the twenties. The era of total prohibitions, gangsters and jazz swing. On the avenue are the Barber Shop, where visitors can enjoy the role of a real crowd of extras, two restaurants (the American Bar and Charleston Club), a pharmacy and the park’s main store, Five Points, whose name is taken one of Manhattan’s most impressive neighborhoods.

"Imaginarium", the temple of fantasy. This corner of the park is entirely dedicated to children and is arranged in a fantasy style. Its design creates the impression of a real fantasy factory: young visitors can cook, knead, print and pack their dreams here, kept by tireless Creators. The complex has a kiosk with sweets and 7 children's attractions.

Aquila IV: Get Ready for the Battle. This is an interactive complex about the war, in which Cinecittà World becomes the theater of numerous land, air and sea battles. It tells the true story of an untamed submarine, codenamed Aquila IV.

Erawan: Freefall Adventure. One of the most significant complexes of Cinecittà World, Erawan, is dedicated to adventure films of the fifties. A key element of the group is the temple of the Indian elephant god Erawan, surrounded by tropical plants and the sounds of the jungle. On the back of the elephant the first truly adrenaline ride of the park is arranged: the 60-meter Drop Tower, in which visitors can experience the feeling of free fall. The tower is equipped with four gondolas, two of which have the latest “tilt” function: raised to the very top of the attraction, the gondolas deviate forward by 20 degrees, causing even a daredevil a daredevil surge of adrenaline. A store in the style of a luxurious Indian palace is organized at one of the legs of a huge elephant.

Ennio's Creek: Becoming Arrows. In a stylized western-style village, Ennio's Creek features the Mezzogiorno al Fuoco saloon restaurant, games room, mine, church and classic dusty cemetery. Spaghetti Western, professional shooters and cancan dancers - in addition to observing the bright surroundings, visitors will be able to test themselves in a duel with the sheriffs or the most brutal bandits in the history of cinema. This complex has organized a lot of thematic entertainment for the whole family, including such bright stylistic images as dynamite bars or barrels of whiskey. The musical accompaniment of the complex is composed of compositions by Ennio Morricone.

Altair, a look at aliens. The complex is dedicated to the great cinema fantastic sagas and the "communication" of people with aliens. Altair is the name of a spaceship that recently landed on our planet: we are talking about “10 Inversion Coaster” (“10 revolving slides”), one of the park’s best attractions. A rotating "ship" during the passage of the route makes 10 turns of 360 degrees. The effect of interstellar travel is provided by all kinds of slopes of the route and the special design of the "spaceship". The train in the ride rises to 35 meters and speeds up to 100 km / h.

"Aktium" (Aktium): in the monastery of legionnaires. Performed in the spirit of Ancient Rome, Actium is a tribute to cinematography in the peplum genre. The complex is the city of Ambrachia, the refuge of the legionnaires of Mark Ottavia (Marco Ottavio). Guests of the park can try here the 22-meter attraction "Water Ride", suitable for any age.

In the very center of the park is located Dino De Laurentis Square (Dino De Laurentiis) with a beautiful fountain, named after the founder of the movie studio Chinechitt. This is the heart of the park, and here, in addition to themed performances of Cinecittà World, various other concerts and performances may well be held.

The park also hosts theaters and other entertainment.

Theater 1. "The Enigma" (Enigma). The theater with a capacity of 1300 seats, located on a sliding mobile platform, presents the viewer with the permanent show "Riddle". This is an original 5-act performance written and directed by Filmmaster Events, with the goal of singing the magic of cinema and the riddle that every story gives rise to within us. This is an immersion in illusion, deception of the senses, ideas and thinking. Theater 1 will also host other shows that will change throughout the season. The first of these will be the All In 15 'rock show - Rock Super Heroes, which will be on the scene from the opening of the park until September.

Theater 2. "Dark Horse" (Darkmare). The atmosphere of this platform returns the viewer to the generation of cinematography in the genre of black and white thriller horror. In a room decorated in an infernal style based on the work of Dante, a rollercoaster is installed. The train departure station is made in the style of a dark grove, then the path passes along the banks of the Styx River in a gloomy and intimidating atmosphere. A surprise awaits you on the track, which will certainly cause a storm of emotions: “Free Fall”, an absolute novelty in Europe, a journey to the last hellish circle.

Theater 3. Enchanted Projector. This complex is designed like a huge movie projector. In fact, this is a multi-level playground, which can simultaneously accommodate up to 150 children aged 3 to 12 years.

Theater 4. Motor! (Ciak si gira) For a real theater with a capacity of about 250 people, productions that are semi-improvisational are selected. Two performances are expected here: the first is Audition: what really happens at the auditions? The director of the play should find actors for his musical film, and the audience will be actively involved in the selection of artists. The second show is “How the film is made: final credits” (Come ti faccio un film: i titoli di coda), during which the backstage of the filming process and the work going on behind the cameras will open to the audience.

Finally, the lab. There are three of them, on the side of Piazza Dino De Laurentis.

Laboratory 1. Together with Kroma K, thanks to the latest generation of eco-friendly screen technology, visitors will have the opportunity to become participants in a digital show and experience the role of film artists like real stars. An exhibition dedicated to the work of Dante Ferretti, three-time Academy Award winner and developer of the entire design of the park, is also organized in the same laboratory. The exhibition "Design of Dreams" will be open until September this year.

Laboratory 2. In this laboratory, visitors will be put in special vehicles in which they can make an unforgettable and exciting journey through the space open spaces created using 3D technology.

Lab 3: Speed of Light. This complex has a fantastic movie about racing on cars of the future. Young visitors will plunge into the atmosphere of bright light, roaring motors and laser shots in a competition without rules.
