How to get there

How to get from Bergamo airport to the center of Milan

Bergamo Orio al Serio Caravaggio International Airport (Aeroporto di Bergamo-Orio al Serio) is located 50 kilometers from the center of Milan.

To get to Milan from Bergamo airport is the cheapest way by bus for 7 euros or by train, but you can also use a taxi that will take you immediately to the hotel. Travel time will be about 45-50 minutes. In the article we will consider in detail the pros and cons of each option.

From Moscow Vnukovo Airport to Bergamo, twice a day flights are operated by a low-cost airline www.pobeda.aero

How to navigate on arrival

At Bergamo Airport, navigating is very simple. Go through passport control, then follow the signs for baggage claim at RITIRO BAGAGLI.

Check on the board the number of the baggage claim tape. In this example, passengers of the Pobeda DP 803 flight from Moscow (Moskow) are issued baggage on tape number 5.

Once you have collected your luggage, follow the exit for USCITA.

Attention! Before leaving, an Italian customs officer can stop you - do not worry and answer his questions honestly. Most likely, you will specify the amount of cash - according to the law it should not exceed 10,000 euros. Control is carried out selectively.

Leaving the baggage claim area, you will see drivers waiting for customers who booked transfers in advance, as well as signs for taxis and buses.

By bus

The bus stop is located right at the exit of the airport.

There are several companies transporting to Milan Central Station (Milano Centrale), you can buy a ticket on the spot without any problems for 7 euros and go by the nearest bus - an interval of 20-30 minutes.

If you want to save money, you can pre-buy a ticket online for 6 euros on the official website of the carrier terravision.eu

Bookmark plus 1 hour to arrival time. If the flight suddenly delays or arrives earlier, then you will be put on the nearest bus without any problems, and for a saved euro it is better to drink a real Italian espresso for my health 🙂

From Milan Central Station you can easily reach the hotel by metro or tram for 1.5 euros.

By train

To travel by train, you first need to get to Bergamo Central Station, from here the trains leave for Milan - this option is suitable for you if you want to explore the main sights of the city or stay here for a day or two.

  • I advise you to read: Where to stay in Bergamo

Get out of the airport and immediately a little to the left you will see the number 1 bus stop.

The display will show the departure time of the nearest bus to Bergamo.

The bus will say that he goes to BERGAMO to the central train station (STAZIONE F.S - CITTA ALTA).

A ticket for 3 euros, you can buy in the machine or inside the bus. Choose tariff E. Euro coins or credit cards are accepted.

Bergamo Central Station is a 20-minute drive away. The photo below shows what the stop looks like.

Getting off the bus, you will see the station building.

Regional trains from Bergamo are sent to Milan and other cities in Italy. A ticket to Milan costs 5.5 euros. The option with a train to Milan is suitable for those who need to get, for example, immediately to the station of Port Garibaldi (Milano Porta Garibaldi) or stations Lambrate, Villapizzone.

Tickets can be bought in the machine, but since they often slow down, I advise you to purchase them in the TABACCHI store (to the left of the entrance). The cost is the same, and saving time from 5 to 15 minutes.

On the station board, look for your train number and track (BIN).

The ticket is composted before entering the platform in a special machine.

If for some reason you were unable to validate the ticket, it is enough to write the station of departure, date and time on the bottom of the ticket yourself.

The photo below shows the Trenord regional train to Milan departing from Bergamo station.

By taxi

A taxi rank is located next to the first bus stop. The cost of a trip to Milan is charged according to the meter, count on the amount from 80 to 110 euros. In this case, I always recommend booking a shuttle in advance at a fixed price - this will help to avoid surprises and misunderstandings with taxi drivers. On the website kiwitaxi.ru you can order a transfer for 3-4 people for 87 euros. You will be delivered immediately to the hotel - this is very convenient if you do not want to use public transport.

Rent a Car

You can pick up a rented car in advance immediately upon arrival. If you book at least one month in advance, then you can easily find options for 15-20 euros per day. At the airport, in fact, the cost of a car will be 2-3 times more. I advise you to read about the features of car rental in Italy on the site auto.italy4.me - there you can also get free advice on this issue in the comments.

Riding back from Milan to Bergamo

Buses from Milan to Bergamo depart from Piazza Luigi di Savoia near the central station. If you are facing the main entrance, the bus stop is located to the right of the building. If you come by subway, then just follow the signs for the bus with the plane.

Pointers are duplicated approximately every 50 meters. Getting lost is incredibly difficult.

Regarding the exit from the metro, Piazza Luigi di Savoia will also be on the right.

In the square you will see temporary racks for selling bus tickets to all Milan airports - you can buy from them for 7 euros or go straight to the parking lot and buy a ticket from the driver.

Each bus says which airport it leaves for. We are interested in a direct bus from Milan to the airport (DIRECT AIRPORT BERGAMO).

Terravision buses usually come first. For those who booked online the cost of 6 euros, the rest in fact pay 7.

It looks like an electronic ticket from Milan Bergamo, bought in advance:

You do not need to print a ticket; you can show it from your phone or tablet. If you are late, tickets purchased online are valid for the following flights during the same day - very convenient.

If the tickets for the next flight have already been bought out, then just follow the buses of other carriers - they are a bit simpler, but the cost is the same 7 euros. Buses depart from Milan every 15-20 minutes.

In case you want to see the city of Bergamo itself, buy a ticket for the regional train that leaves from Milano Centrale.
